posts » UCLH governor's election: personal statement

As an academic neonatologist working at UCLH since 2007, I care passionately about the NHS and about the provision of high quality patient care. I have experiences from many departments in the Trust: I was born here, grew up locally, and have many friends and family who've used the hospital's services – including myself. In the current climate of change, I can provide leadership to influence quality improvements.

As a staff member, participation in the Executive Shadowing Programme has provided deep insights into the workings of the Trust and the wider NHS, and further stimulated my commitment to improving healthcare. I've established contacts across different Trust Boards, while maintaining day-to-day relationships with all levels of staff. Co-Leading the neonatal “Ventilation Vision” quality improvement stream, I've facilitated workplace training for junior doctors and nurses. My strong links with the University result from involvement in undergraduate and postgraduate education and research. In previous jobs, I have represented my peers locally and nationally.

A proactive team player with a demonstrated track-record of achieving positive change, I also possess advanced IT skills. My wish is for UCLH to continue enhancing patient care, education, and research and therapies even further. I believe this is possible, particularly through innovative use of free software and IT in an open and transparent manner. I want UCLH to not only be the best in the world, but also demonstrate this to all! I want to represent you in making this change.
